Paintball Air Tanks are one of the most common air compression technology used by technical savvies.

Even though the common form of Paintball Air Tanks uses carbon dioxide (CO2), it is not the only gas used in today’s tanks. CO2 is famous because it was easily available and the cartridges were very cheap. Depending on the gun and cartridge size, CO2 based Paintball Air Tanks were capable of shooting 20 to 100 shots and this was more than enough for many users earlier.

However, cartridges were replaced by tanks for larger applications because the limited number of shots made many compressors not ideal for operations in remote areas. Another benefit for CO2 based containers were that these are quite safe as the liquefied gas is not powerful enough for explosions or any other serious threats in normal conditions. However, CO2 is not a famous option today as the gas tends to release moisture once the pressure gets lowered. Due to this, alternate forms of gases were used in Paintball Air Tanks.

CO2 containers also face inconsistence as even small factors such as outside temperature can affect the shooting capability of such tanks using CO2. Now, Nitrogen powered compression tanks are also used and these are more accurate. Nitrogen tanks can shoot consistent shots at a constant pressure range because the cylinder is filled with air, not the liquefied gas. Another issue such as leakage on your gun can be avoided with nitrogen simply because it is a gas. Compared to nitrogen, CO2 cylinders tend to create such issues at a regular basis.

Nitrogen tanks also tend to be more pressure and weather resistant. As many of us have noticed already, CO2 tanks do not work well in cold conditions due to its liquefied form. Cold weather will force you to shoot more liquid than gas and this will affect the speed and accuracy of your shots to a very large extend. This is not something that you want with a tank and this is why many people go for nitrogen tanks in cold conditions. However, this is not the case during summer season where CO2 tanks tend to be more accurate.

In hot climate, CO2 will be more pressurized and the shots can be more accurate. With an expansion chamber on your gun, you can shoot with a very good accuracy and this is one of the best advantages for CO2 compressors. There are other such tanks that feature propane gas. Propane is one of the finest gases that you can find for this application but the price of propane cylinders is high at the moment.

There is no doubt that such tanks are one of the most important tools in shooting with accuracy and the gas used in these tanks are a major determination tool for the cylinder’s quality and accuracy. Even though price matters, you don’t have to compromise on accuracy either. Make sure to choose the right tank with right type of gas to get better results.
